The Best Websites for Watermelon Recipes

With the start of summer and watermelons in season, many people take to the web in search of new and refreshing watermelon recipes. I have reviewed several websites containing watermelon recipes in order to make that search a little easier. I have applied a 1-5 rating of the websites, with five being the highest.

Best Websites

1.  www.watermelon.org

This website is sponsored by the National Watermelon Promotion Board and it indeed promotes watermelon.  The website offers: Health & Nutrition, Carvings, Kid Section, Fun Facts & FAQs, and of course, Recipes.  There are numerous recipes covering everything watermelon from beverages to dessert and all that’s in between.  The recipes look and sound fabulous, plus they are unique.  I would never have imagined doing with watermelon, what these recipes suggest.  I love that feature in a recipe collection!  Some interesting highlights include: Watermelon Glazed Mini Barbequed Meatballs (Side Dishes), Greek Pita Flatbread with Watermelon (Sandwiches), Pink Watermelon Chardonnay Sparklers (Cocktails), and Watermelon Coconut Cake with Raspberry Filling (Desserts).  This site is not to be missed for inspired Watermelon Recipes.

This is a great, fun website and should not be missed if you are searching for impressive watermelon recipes.

2.  www.foodnetwork.com

I typed watermelon recipes into their search engine and received 194 results.  They had search filters on the side of the web page, which consist of:  desserts, side dishes, appetizer, and main dish; allowing for an easier search for a specific course of the meal.  The website features the name of the celebrity chef who designed the recipe, a star rating of each recipe, estimated time, and level of difficulty.  I really liked these fact features about each recipe, especially the time and difficulty ratings.  One feature I didn’t like about the website is that it is full of advertisements, which take awhile to load on my computer.  If you have a high performance Internet connection package, this may not be an issue for you.  I have a mid-grade DSL package and I thought the pages loaded a little slower than I would have liked.  Nevertheless, some interesting recipes include:  Watermelon Punch, Tuna Tostada with Watermelon Slaw, and Tropical Watermelon Sorbet.

The recipes they have sound good, but the website itself is slow to load and not as easy to navigate as others, like Watermelon Org.
