Recipe for Delicious Chocolate and Peanut Butter Buckeyes

A recipe for amazing buckeyes, a delicious home made treat during the fall and winter months! You can make this recipe with family, friends, and even children. Please supervise young children when they use the toothpicks!

You will need:

1 1/2 cups of peanut butter
1 cup of softened butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
6 cups of confectioner’s sugar
2 bags of chocolate chips (for about 4 cups)
A box of toothpicks

Note: Read all steps thoroughly before making this recipe.

Step 1. Mix together the peanut butter, sugar, butter, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Roll the dry, doughy mixture into balls about 1 to 1 and a half inches thick. Place them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.

Step 2.Put a toothpick in each of the balls and put them in the refrigerator for about 45 minutes. Once they are firm, take them out of the refrigerator.

Step 3. While the peanut butter balls are cooling, melt the chocolate chips in a microwavable bowl. Stir them frequently until the chocolate is smooth, and be sure not to burn the chocolate in the microwave.

Step 4.Pick up the peanut butter ball with the toothpick and dip it into the chocolate to coat it. (You may need to swirl it around a bit to ensure a good coating.) Be sure to leave a small area at the top of just peanut butter so you get the buckeye effect. Put the buckeyes back on the cookie sheet and return them to the refrigerator until the chocolate hardens.

Serve and enjoy!
