Pastry Sheets – Cooking with Tyson
Even though Tyson declares “war on food”, there is one thing that he is always guaranteed to eat…..

Tyson loves pasty – puff, shortcrust and mum’s apple pie pastry are his favourite. However, he doesn’t like pastry in the ‘normal’ way. Tyson loves to eat pastry biscuits – but only if he has helped make them.
You are probably scratching your head, wondering what I am on about. It’s pretty simple to make and is pretty much mess-free (frozen sheets are mess free). Here is how we go about it:
De-frost 2 sheets of pastry – place one sheet on a chopping board in front of Tyson and the other goes on a chopping board in front of me.
- Set oven to 170C and line 2 trays with baking paper, placing one tray next to Tyson.
- I let Tyson choose 2 cookie cutters from my collection of itty-bitty cookie cutters.
- Whilst I’m cutting pastry cookies from my sheet, Tyson has fun making patterns and cutting shapes out of the pastry sheet and placing his pieces on the tray next to him.
- I cook the ‘cookies’ for about 10 mins, checking lots! (Tyson hates them if they are over-cooked).
Tyson hates getting his hands dirty. I have found that this activity is great for getting Tyson interested in cooking.
