Our Christmas Dinner
We had our Christmas dinner today and I am sharing it with you. We had a wonderful time visiting. Although we didn’t have as many family members in attendance as usual, we still had a lot of remembering and fun. I have four sisters and one brother. I am the oldest and Jimmie Gayle is the youngest. We are spread over quiet a few years but we enjoy each others company and have plenty to talk about. Brother Dude gave me the low down on Canola oil that I haven’t had a chance to look up yet. But it sounds interesting if you want to check it out.
Our Christmas Dinner

Ruby, Henry, Charlotte, Betty Sue, Darlene,
We usually have our Christmas dinner at sister Darlene’s church but this year sister Betty Sue invited us to her house. It was a shorter drive for those of us who live south but further for those who live north. Lionel and I appreciated it because we try not to drive at night and we were able to visit longer with the family. As it was we barely got home before dark.

Christa, Ben, Betty Sue,
Before mama died it was nothing to have 40 or more people at her house for family dinners but since her death attendance has fallen off. We still have quiet a few though. We siblings were there except one sister. Jimmie wasn’t able to attend. She was out of state. Betty Sue’s children were the only sibling’s children to attend and some of her grandchildren were there. Two of Darlene’s grandchildren and one great granddaughter attended.

Lionel, and Jim who makes delicious coconut cakes.
Brother Henry (Dude) was the lone one of his family in attendance. Sister Charlotte and brother-in-law Pete were loners. Regardless of the fewer members we had a great time. We had our favorite foods, ham, turkey, dressing, green beans, pinto beans. slaw, broccoli salad, Brussels sprouts, creamed potatoes, fried okra and for dessert, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, cherry pie, red velvet cake, coconut cake, cherry cream cheese cake, and more that I didn’t have room to taste. We never plan our menu. Each of us brings whatever we care to make and every year we say that one year we will all end up bringing the same thing, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Amanda’s boyfriend, Charlotte, Amanda,
Brother-in-law Jim, Betty Sue’s husband, made his delicious coconut cake. He’s brought it to family dinners for too many years to count and it was just as delicious as it always is. Betty Sue is the best cook in our family. The rest of us sibs (5 sisters, 1 brother) can’t hold a candle to her.

Elizabeth and Gracie,
Darlene is into family genealogy and brought info about some of our forefathers. It was interesting looking back at two grandfathers several generations away who fought at Gettysburg. She has attended a few reunions of relatives we were not acquainted with and picked up lots of information from them. They gave her some old pictures of relatives made way back when but nobody knew who they were. We should write names on the backs of all our pictures for future generations. Anyway, a good time was had by all. I’m sharing some of the pictures I made today with you. You all have a very happy Christmas and enjoy your dinners as much as we did.

Hi Ruby, this is a really nice post
But I need help, my articles have very little views and only two out of the six I’ve written are actually earning some money, $0.07 in total? Do you have any tips you could give me or is this because I’m just starting out? Thanks. (:

It’s wonderful that all the siblings were able to get together at once. It sounds like a great time, with extra special moments like learning more about your history through geneology. The food sounds delicious!
Happy New Year!
