How to Turn a Blender Into a High Power Juicer

What juicing manufacturers don’t want you to know!
Not too recently I was in a store and got sucked into a juicer on display. It was made of highly polished aluminum, looking more like a car on display than a kitchen appliance. Upon flipping over the price tag, I noticed something equally as “impressive”: the price. Since spending over 300 dollars on a juicer wouldn’t have been prudent at the time, I decided to buy a lower price juicer for 30 dollars.
Initially the juicer worked fine, but with time I found myself using it less and less. I simply got fed up of constantly taking the machine apart and then washing each part after each juicing. One day, when making a whey protein shake in my blender, I got an idea. Why not make juice using the blender? It’s really simple. Here’s what you do:
- Add about a half cup to a cup of water into a blender. Usually you will find that the more juice you are making the more water you will have to add.
- Add to the blender any types of fruits and vegetables you think would make a good drink. Just make sure you cut them up into smaller pieces so the blender has an easier job blending them. In this case, the smaller the better.
- Put the blender on high and wait until it becomes a watery mash. (Keep in mind that as you are blending, you might have to press down the vegetables and add more water as needed)
- Using a straining mesh, pour the blended mash into the mesh and squeeze it over a bowl. (For straining meshes, you can try Home Depot, or just go to the local dollar store and look around for one. That ’s where I bought mine.)
Just like magic you now have juice! Juice not made with a fancy juicer, but with a little bit of creative thinking and ingenuity.
Fact is, Juicing, either way you do it, is a great way to stay young since it allows you to increase your fruit and vegetable intake in an easy and quick way. What would you rather do? Eat a pound of fruits and vegetables, or drink the same nutrients in a glass of juice?
