How to Get Rid of Burnt Food Smell

The smell of burnt food can be horrible and spreads over the entire house apart from making the food unsuitable to eat most of the time. So what to do to get rid of Burnt Food Odor?

When I was a new bride several times I have burned food. Many times I have burned rice, pop corn and milk. Even after several years I still have accidents at the kitchen, but the only difference is that I do not burn food as frequently as I used to do years ago. In fact it is over a year since I have burned any food now.

As you know the smell of burnt food can be horrible and spreads over the entire house apart from making the food unsuitable to eat most of the time. The first thing you need to do is opening the doors and windows to get rid of the smell to some extent and scrub and throw the burned food away and wash the vessel. Given below are some easy tips to get rid of burnt smells.

  • Place a bowl of vinegar in the room or boiling vinegar in water can help replace burnt smell with the smell of vinegar which is not as bad. Also keep some lemon peels near vinegar to reduce vinegar smell and absorb burnt odors.
  • Boiling a few pieces of lemon in water can help remove burnt odor.
  • Another home remedy for burnt food odor involves boiling cloves and cinnamon in a vessel.
  • If you have burned rice at the bottom, you need not throw it away. Take 2-3 potatoes and wash them thoroughly and chop them into pieces. Put these pieces on top of the rice and cover the rice with a lid on low flame. Remove the vessel from flame after five minutes and remove the potato pieces from the rice. The burnt smell would have vanished from the rice by then and you can save your rice. However, an automatic rice cooker can help avoid such accidents.

The next time you have a burnt odor or you burn rice, you know what to do.
