I have tried Mr. P’s pizza before and so I had a good idea of what to expect this time around. I love the combination of ham and pineapple in a Hawaiian style pizza, which is why I chose this brand this time. It cost just $0.68 per 184g (6.5oz). How could I resist?
Cooking Methods
There are three ways to cook Hawaiian Style Pizza by Mr. P’s. The recommended method that is mentioned is conventional oven or toaster oven, but you can also cook this pizza in the microwave if you are strapped for time. If you decide to cook Hawaiian Style Pizza by Mr. P’s in a conventional oven, preheat the oven to 450OF and place the pizza directly onto the middle of the oven rack. Bake for 8-14 or until the cheese has melted and it is cooked through all the way. Use the same method when cooking the pizza in a toaster oven.
When using a microwave oven to cook this pizza, you will need to adjust cooking times according to the wattage of the microwave. But as a general rule, heat the pizza on medium for 2 1/2 minutes, rotate 1/2 turn and cook for a further 2 minutes.
Taste
Unfortunately, I overcooked my pizza, which made the crust quite hard rather than crispy. But as I bit into the pizza, I was impressed with the taste of the ham and pineapple. The pizza sauce was sweet and well seasoned. The one thing I would change about this pizza is to add larger chunks of ham and pineapple.
Nutrition
Every 184g (1 whole pizza) serving contains 340 calories, 2g of saturated fat, 10mg of cholesterol, 660mg of sodium, 51g of carbohydrate, 3g of dietary fibre, 5g of sugar and 14g of protein. This pizza also contains 20% of a person’s daily allowance of Vitamin A and Iron. This pizza is low in cholesterol, but high in sodium and carbohydrates. Sharing this pizza would help to cut calories, saturated fat and sodium, especially if you have young children.
Allergies
If you are allergic to wheat, soya products or milk, then Hawaiian Style Pizza by Mr. P’s would not be a suitable choice.
I liked the taste of the pizza, and it was ready in minutes. It is a convenient pizza to have stocked in your freezer when you do not feel like cooking or you have nothing else on hand. But I would suggest sharing the pizza and serving it with a side of steamed vegetables or a salad for a more nutritionally balanced meal.
