Grandma’s Macaroni and Cheese This is for a group she would make this for family gathering
3 16 oz packages elbow macaroni
1 3/4 cup butter divided
1 cup flour
3 quarts milk
2 teaspoons salt
4 pounds shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup cream cheese
2 cups dry bread crumbs
Cook macaroni. Melt 1 cup of the butter. Stir in the flour and salt. Then stir in milk. Bring to boil and keep stirring for 3 minutes. Turn down heat. Add cheddar and cream cheese and stir until melted. Drain macaroni and stir into the sauce.
Put into 3 9×13 baking dishes then melt the rest of butter and put the butter and bread crumbs over the macaroni.
Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes. You can cut the recipe in half or third for less people.
