Got Ingredients?

We all have ingredients around our home, in our garden that are waiting to be discovered.

Girls! just a quick note to encourage you to use your creativity and your female expertise to introduce to your family new flavors and great taste in every meal. The reality is that you do not need to buy those expensive ingredients if you don’t want to, specially if you don’t know what to do with them.

Here are some of the things that my mother taught me that give me always a very delicious and nutritious way to light up the flavors in every dish.  I love “Carne Asada.” the way we used to prepare back home. We use lemon, salt, black pepper & garlic. Now, in Nicaragua we cut our meat in a long “tira” a long continuous ribbon-like strand then we put it in a big bowl and add the juice of 2 lemons, some salt, black pepper with chopped fresh garlic and add it to it, making sure it is evenly distributed throughout  our meat. Now we can go ahead to get some tomatoes, bell peppers and onions in the blender with  a little bit of water, enough to make the blender work smoothly. Blend everything together, the consistence of the ingredients in the blender does not matter since you won’t need it later. Once everything is blended the way you like it, take the blended ingredients in the pitcher with its multitude of flavors and pour it onto your meat and let it marinate, cover it with plastic, the kind that sticks to the bowl and let it sit over the night. This is a great and natural way to marinate your meat, it brings the flavors bursting through. The next day the meat goes straight to the grill, for lunch or dinner and it tastes yummy! Your family will really appreciate it, then you can say “I got the recipe from Hadasa’s blog!” Cooking shouldn’t be that painful, it should be a fun and entertaining experience. Using natural ingredients makes it a great experience for me. P.S. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
