Food Poll
What is your favorite food.
In a recent poll for top 10 foods in a local daily. We found that it is all the hawker style food that was voted. It is cheaper and somewhat tastier. Among them were Fried Koay Toew(fried flat noodle) Nasi Lemak(coconut milk rice served with chicken or beef), egg tarts, Roti Chanai(fried Indian pancake) and Nasi Kandar(Buttered Rice) etc. Little wonder why Satay (barbequed meat sticks) was not on. Perhaps it is my bias.
We are a diverse culture and race, with variety of food, therefore Malaysian also has many choices to choose from talking about food. It is also what we are proud of: to have such colourful and varieties of tasty dishes. Surely, it also draws crowds to this not-very-big country in South -East-Aisan region.
We have unique flavors, cuisine and not to forget the people. Malaysia is made up of West and East, one is a peninsular, and the other is part of Borneo Island which has its unique flora and fauna in the Kalimantan rainforests. It has achieved independence since 1957. Last year, being the 50th anniversary, we had our VISIT Malaysia year. People comprises of three main ethnic groups: The Malay, Chinese and Indians with minority groups in Sabah and Sarawak. A rich and diverse culture, we are famed for heritage like architect from different states, traditional costumes and dances, festivals, batik, kite-flying. Village life-home stay with friendly and warm people. We also have good natural resources like oil, crops and minerals, not to mention rainforest and national parks etc.
Malaysia is a beautiful country with tropical climate, food and people. Maybe we should have a favorite destination poll!
