Fast Crumble Topping
Many popular dishes (desserts such as cobblers and apple crumble in particular) call for a crumble topping which is where this general-purpose, fast and simple crumble topping shines. What’s more, you can even tweak it to your heart’s content.

Crumble Topping Ingredients:
- 200g of Plain Flour
- 100g of Chilled Butter
- 50g of Soft Brown Sugar
Food Processor Method:
- Sift the plain flour
- Cut chilled butter into chunks
- Into the bowl of a food processor add the plain flour and the butter chunks
- Pulse briefly until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs
- Add the soft brown sugar to the flour and butter mixture
- Pulse briefly to make the crumble topping
- Gather crumble topping mixture together into a ball or log
- Wrap the crumble mixture in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes or until the crumble mixture is ready to use and you are ready to use it
- Use when ready
Manual Method:
- Sift the plain flour
- Into a large mixing bowl add the sifted flour
- Grate the block of chilled butter into the flour
- Rub the butter into the flour using your fingers or a pastry cutter, until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs
- Using a fork stir in the soft brown sugar and mix well
- Gather the crumble topping mixture together into a ball or log
- Wrap the crumble topping mixture in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes or until the crumble mixture is ready to use and you are ready to use it
- Use when ready
