Dal Gosht Recipe

Dal Gosht Recipe is tasty recipe.

Ingredients for 5-6 servings:

½ kg meat, cut into pieces

½ cup chana dal

2 large onions

2 tbsp ginger garlic paste

½ tbsp red chili powder

½ tbsp black pepper powder

2 tbsp coriander powder

2 tbsp oil

2 bay leaves

3 green cardamoms

5 cloves

10 cm cinnamon, broken into small pieces

1 tbsp salt

½ kg garam masala powder

Wash and drain the meat. Wash the dal and soak for an hour or so. Slice the onions fine.

Combine the ginger garlic paste and the spice powders except garam masala in a small bowl with a little water and mix to the consistency of a thin paste.

Heat the oil in the pressure cooker, burning it if using mustard oil. Lower the heat, add the bay leaves and whole spices and fry for a few moments till fragrant.

Raise the heat, add the onions and fry till golden. Add the ginger garlic spice paste and bhuno till the oil separates.

Drain the dal, lower the heat, add the meat, dal and salt, and cook on low heat till the meat releases its juices, then raise the heat and bhuno again till the oil separates.

Add water to cover by 2-3 cm, and cook under pressure for 10-12 minutes.

Sprinkle with garam masala and serve.

You could make Aloo gosht using either of the above 2 recipes. Omit the dal or spinach, and when the meat is bhunoed and ready for the final cooking, add a little more water then u would normally use for a meat curry, and cook it under pressure for about 7 minutes. When the pressure has gone down, open the cooker and add about 3 large potatoes, peeled and cut into medium chunks, then cook under pressure for a further 2 minutes.
