We Complain Too Much

Things we complain about when we should be thankful.

The famous philosopher Benjamin Franklyn once said “constant complaint is the poorest sort of pay for all the comforts we enjoyed” and this is so true. We complain every single day of our lives until we no longer enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. We complain about paying bills, we complain about the weather, we complain about back to school, we complain about our spouses and the complaints go on and on. Simple, we complain too much.

The thing is, we are the creator of all our complaints. Why should we drink too much wine in the day and cry at night about having a headache? Why should we nag our spouses when they are home and then complain when they start coming in late? We chose to live in a rented home but complain every month when it’s time to pay the rent.  We have to utilize electricity and water but that too become a problem when it’s paying time. The funniest thing is that, we have total control over any situation in our but we allow ourselves to become over indulged. We want to enjoy the finer things in life and at the same time complain about them.

We have even gone to the extreme of complaining about God’s given nature. The sun is too hot, the wind is too cold, too much rain, the day is too short, and I’m quite sure we could add a lot more to the list. Aren’t we ungrateful? Suppose we had to pay a fee for all these things?

It’s time for us to be more appreciative and when the thought of complaining hit our minds we should think about something that we enjoy that was given freely to us. Remember, it is better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness. Am I wrong or right?

  1. True. I agree. I know because I also do that, sometimes without me realizing. Then again, humans are complex creatures.
