Purchasing an ATV

What to look for when purchasing an ATV.

When purchasing an ATV online or in person the first thing you should look for is whether or not the company you are purchasing from has a standard warranty. Although most deals for ATVs are online, many people prefer to see touch and feel their product at a local ATV shop. When deciding to purchase an ATV there are many options one can pick and choose from.

I guess what you want to ask your self at this stage is, Do I want to purchase a name brand ATV or a off brand ATV? There are many trade offs between these two choices. A name brand ATV will usually cost between $2-$7 thousand dollars depending on what kind of ATV you want.

Although they are expensive they come with the reliability of a warranty that stipulates that the dealer will work on the ATV should it break down. This is of great importance to some and not so important to others. Off brand ATVs usually come with a three month parts warranty and are available for about $450 – $3,000 dollars depending on what kind of ATV you want. There is a huge price difference there.

Most off brand ATV’s come with name brand replica engines. Many come from China and are just as good as most name brand four wheelers. What ever you decide to choose you should definitely make sure that there is a warranty and that the dealer you choose to buy from has parts on hand and can supply those parts to you when you need them. There is a huge difference between these two options, do you want reliability at a higher price or a lower price without the reliability.

Most people that purchase ATV’s are not afraid to work on them but there are some out there that don’t want to ever have to work on them. If you are not good with your hands and would rather have your ATV worked on for you, you should probably go with the name brand quads, if you love working with your hands and don’t mind putting in a little extra work to save yourself some money the off brand ATV is the way to go.

Either way it’s a good idea to talk to whoever you decide to go with about what specifically is covered under your warranty and make sure that it is crystal clear before you whip out your hard earned cash. For more information on purchasing ATVs visit this page.
