Potato Peeling Gloves

Will these peeling gloves make easy work in the kitchen?

I recently ordered a pair of potato peeling gloves. The product information claimed that the gloves would easily peel potatoes without the use of knives. I thought they would be worth a try since we regularly peel potatoes in our house.

Price

The potato peeling gloves are available from the Lakeside Collection for a mere $4.95 plus shipping. After ordering other items from Lakeside, I tacked these potato peeling gloves onto my order which bumped my total up to receive free shipping. With this in mind, I felt the cost was a great bargain, but would I feel the same way after I used the potato peeling gloves?

Durability

Upon opening the package, I was delighted to find the gloves were very thick. They seemed to be made from durable material that would stand the test of time. My family peels 15 to 20 potatoes per meal, so this quality was important to me.

Effectiveness

I followed the instructions to use the potato peeling gloves. I began with a smaller potato to get the hang of how to use the gloves. I scrubbed and scrubbed. The potato was good and clean, but not peeling. I continued to scrub the spud thoroughly and vigorously. After several minutes of scrubbing, the small potato had one large nick of skin removed and a few pieces of skin that were scratched off. I easily could have peeled three or four similarly sized potatoes in this amount of time.

Yes, the product will eventually peel your potatoes, but you better start on Monday morning if you plan to make Sunday dinner. The potato peeling gloves are perfect for those little ones in the kitchen who want to help out. The kids will be safe and helpful while you peel the potatoes with a knife or vegetable peeler.

Satisfaction Rating

Overall, I would give the potato peeling gloves 2 stars. While the product his highly durable, it takes forever to accomplish the intended task at hand. The product does what it claims by peeling potatoes, but I would not say that it makes the job any easier than peeling the spuds with a knife or vegetable peeler.

I personally would not recommend anyone spend their hard-earned money to buy the potato peeling gloves even though they are only about $5. Put your money into a comfortable knife or peeler and you will be much more satisfied with your investment.
