My Love Affair with Netflix
Why you should choose Netflix over Redbox or Blockbuster.
Lately I have heard more and more conversations, from both sides, about whether or not one should choose Blockbuster over Netflix, or vice versa. If you walk into a Blockbuster store, the first thing you see on the door is an ad trying to get you to open an account with them, and it says that they receive movies sooner than Netflix. While yes, It is nice to walk down to Blockbuster and rent a movie and maybe buy some snacks, I have no idea what I would do without Netflix. Almost every device nowadays has Netflix capability. Products such as The Sony Bravia, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, and most Blu-Ray players have Netflix capabilities and all you need is an internet connection. Not to mention the luxury of having Instant movies on your laptop.
Netflix offers many, many, shows and movies to watch instantly. I am a college student and when I get home, I like to lay down and relax in my room. Usually theres nothing good on tv, so I turn on my laptop and watch my favorite shows. There are full seasons of new and old tv series without the hassle of commercials, cliffhangers, and waiting for new episodes. I have watched 3 of my favorite series. They have shows that only lasted one season, and shows that are still aired. Along with those are The Office, Weeds, Nip/Tuck, 24, Lie to Me, Dexter, Law and Order, CSI, Family Guy, American Dad, 30 Rock, Heros and many more. They have kids shows such as Sponge Bob, Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Dora The Explorer, Veggie Tales, Go Diego Go, The Backyardigans, Wonder Pets, The Wiggles and many more. They also have my favorite Nickelodeon shows that are no longer on. For those of you that miss the 90s, they have Rugrats, Rocko’s Modern Life, Angry Beavers, Hey! Arnold, The Fairly Odd Parents, and a few more. So while Blockbuster has snacks, movie rentals, and games, Netflix has memories and shows that are no longer around. I plan on having Netflix when I have children because I dont agree with the shows today and want them to watch the ones from my childhood. Aside from that, I dont have to fill up my DVR with every episode of Law & Order: SVU anymore, I just watch all the seasons on my new Blu-Ray player. Honestly, I dont know why I still pay Dish Network.
Aside from the Instant movies and tv shows that stream to your tv and laptop, Netflix also has movies that come in the mail. Here is were someone will say, the mail takes too long if they can just go to the store and get it. However, If you walk into Blockbuster, not every movie created is there. They only have recent and most popular movies available. If you’re someone who loves older movies, or movies that didnt quite make it, you probably wont find them at Blockbuster. Many times I have gone in there and asked if they had a movie, and of course they didnt. So I just get the from Netflix now. Theres no late fees because theres no such thing as late. Keep it as long as you want. you can one come to your door at a time, or you can have three. Netflix has pretty much thought of everything. Yes it has its flaws, but I love it.
