How Sanitary are Your Local Fast Food Restaurants

Reasons why many people refuse to eat at Fast Food Restaurants.

Over the past several years, many people have told me of their experiences with working at fast food restaurants. I will not mention any particular names of the Restaurants, but I can tell you that my family and I are extremely selective when we decide to eat Fast Food.

Hamburger patties being dropped on the floor, picked up and placed on the bun and sent out to the customer. Workers not using gloves when putting lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc. on the burgers. Workers wiping their nose or scratching their ear, and continuing to put their hands in the food.

These are just a few of the stories that I have heard locally. In reality, there is no telling what goes on in the fast food restaurants that customers are unaware of. Now, when selecting a place to eat, we choose restaurants where we can actually see the cooks, and see the food being prepared.

One place, we arose and left before our food made it to the table. After placing our order, we watched the cook as he finished mopping, then he proceeded to the stove and started preparing the food with his dirty mop hands. No, he did not take the time to wash his hands or put on new gloves.

Restaurants Owners need to employ strict Managers and Assistant Managers, and one of them should be there at all times to enforce food safety and cleanliness. Calling the Health Department on these restaurants does very little good. The owner/manager will get a slap on the wrist, and they may enforce sanitary actions temporarily, but eventually they return to the old ways.

Food Poisoning is no laughing matter, and we, as customers, need to take every effort necessary to protect ourselves.

  1. I try not to eat fast food already, you’ve just given me another reason to avoid it. Thanks!

  2. I has a friend installing electrical equipment in a resto last week in Belfast. He moved a ceiling tile and buckets of what he discovered to be rat poop fell over the tables. No customers at the time of course. But do we ever complain?

  3. So true!!!! These fast food places are the worst. I really hate eating it. Sometimes it is the only choice, but if there is any other option I avoid them. The mop guy does not surprise me in the least. I too have seen employees leave the bathroom, clean, etc… and never bother to wash thier hands. The gloves…what good does it do to wear gloves if you are going to rub the gloves across your clothes while you put them on? Really great job her M.

  4. Ok, this one hits really close to home. I worked in a local BIG department store with Gro store and Deli. Well, needless to say, we had this one lady who made sandwiches that went out in the coolers. People were bringing them back with hair and trash in them. She was dropping the luncheon meat and wiping it off on her clothes, and putting it back on the sandwiches to go out for sale. Well, after so many complaints, the store managers got to watching and found out what she was doing. They didn’t fire her, they moved her to the front as cashier. She was nasty enough to do that, I would think her hands were not too clean, so she’s still handling people’s food….

    hmmm

  5. oh my, this is not good. I don’t think I will eat fast food anymore. You know, things like this does cross your mind, then you forget.

    thank you for reminding me,
