Gasoline Costs More Than Cigarettes: The New Revolution

When gasoline costs more than a pack of cigarettes it is time for a new strategy: electric cars.

N.E.W.: New Electric Wheels; this is the acronym that is going to be revolutionizing the North American continent in the next ten years while putting OPEC in heavy hurt all because of a few sparks of ingenuity. Gas prices have risen above $4.00 a gallon in most States and if nothing is done to cull OPEC, prices are expected to rise as high as $8.40 a gallon as is the average price in Germany for gas. When the price of oil outweighs the price of US bloodshed abroad for efforts to stimulate an economic “staple”, it is time for a revolution and in the most silent and efficient way possible, raise a battery and a solar cell in cheers as WE the People declare, Viva La N.E.W. Revolution.

Based in Santa Rosa, California, ZAP! Electric Vehicles has brought their own acronym to the New Electric Wheels Revolution: Zero Air Pollution. Imagine a car that goes 350 miles after a short 15 minute AC charge. Imagine a battery that lasts for 9,000 charges yielding over a million mile lifespan compared to the 250,000 – 350,000 mile lifespan of a well-kept engine. Picture a series of electro-magnetic rotors capable of producing 644 horsepower: this is the ZAP-X. Designed by Lotus with a projected 2010 availability date and a price tag of $60,000 with all amenities, (GPS, solar windows, rack and pinion steering, EBS, power everything, blue-tooth ready and an on-board Car-Puter with a Full Entertainment System built in), this car is the beginning of the end of Big Oil and the ushering in of an eco-friendly and chic’ new attitude on what “cruisin’ in style” really means.
