Ear Drum Damage

This is an article describing the effect of uncontrolled volume of listening device like iPod and others. The sole aim of this article is to educate users of such device to careful of the level of volume they allow in their listening device.

Do you frequently have ear buds growing from your ear? Is your ear beating like a drum? If so, it might be time to turn down the volume on that mp3 player.

A study done in Manchester , Birmingham, Brighton and England shows that listening device users typically turns up their mp3 player’s volume to over 85 decibels. This can lead to hearing loss. Eighty five (85) decibels of sound sustained over one hour is the maximum level of sound healthy for human hearing. Please as an advice don’t exceed this value (85db) or come near it because you might blow up your ear drum. Am sure you don’t want to go deaf (not a good experience.)

Another study done in the UK shows that most users of personal listening device like ipod, mp3 and mp4 players, disc man, e.t.c does not even know the guidelines for healthy listening. Even if you don’t care to know about the guide lines, common sense (though not common) will tell you to select a moderate volume for your listening pleasure.

In summary, if you feel like playing loud jams on your listening device, then get ready to sign up in “sign language training”. I mean school of deaf and dumb.
