Coupons for Digital TV Converters

Do you have a digital converter for your TV? Not to worry if you don’t there is still time.
Today is the day all TV’s go digital. Everyone who doesn’t have cable or the dish will lose their TV service unless the digital converter is in place. We have heard about the transaction often enough over the last several months but even so I will bet many people got a shock when they turned on their TV and saw a snow storm coupled with weird noises.

We are on cable so it doesn’t effect us per sec but our cable company is still doing a lot of upgrading so we had to have a converter of sorts to continue receiving all our channels. We have the boxes waiting for my son or grandson to give Lionel a hand hooking them up. I refuse to have anything to do with reading all the instructions that came with it. I took one look at the hefty book of instructions and said no way. They won’t read them either but they will get the TV hooked up to all the channels.

Atlanta has set up hot lines and phone banks to deal with all the people who will be calling today when they find they have no TV service. The government has already distributed 59 million $40.00 coupons to viewers to purchase digital converters. They cost about $70.00 so a coupon will make quiet a difference. The coupons will be available until July 31, If anyone would like to order a coupon go to;( www.dtv.gov ) I went there today and ordered one for my son. The receipt said it would be mailed 6/18/09. By the time he gets it he might have decided he can do without TV. If you had rather call, this is the phone number they have listed. (toll free) 1-888-388-2009

My ISP/Cable company took care of this; but good tips, and good job on posting the website.

Thanks for the tips.
The other thing you need is an antenna. To find out which one will get you your channels, you might go to http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx

Good tip, I am glad we have cable. But now our emergency TV we have for hurricanes will not work. There is always a trade off somewhere.

It is amazing how many people just don’t prepare themselves for issues like this, even though there were so many commercials and advertisements about it.
