Cable Cost Go Up – Content Goes Down
As my cable bill goes up each year, the quality of the broadcast seems to be diminishing; fight back by finding alternative quality alternatives.
We seem to increase in the number of channels, the number of channels that have high definition, but the quality of cable seems to be at an all time low. It is amazing to me that with 200+ channels, there is seldom anything worth watching. I remember when we had 7 channels at best, and there was a favorite show that I couldn’t imagine missing. It is certainly not the case any more.
I have geared down to basic cable, removed my DVR, added netflix to my mix and stream from my computer. This is the best way I know to get some value for my money. I believe if we want quality in broadcasting we need to send a clear message to the cable companies that we are not going to pay outrageous amounts for shows that are not worth watching.
The service for cable companies have also diminished, an appointment is within a block of 3 hours, that you are expected to waste your time waiting for them. If they fail to show, they will reschedule you 2-3 weeks out. I have Time Warner and I sent them a letter and an email and have yet to hear from them. I find it interesting that they believe their product is so superior that they do not have to provide service or content.
