All Natural Laundry Detergent

Giving up traditional laundry detergent can be hard. This may change your mind.

I LOVE the smell of Gain Laundry Detergent, I mean really love it! I could use Gain in a reed diffuser to scent my entire house. That would be kind of weird, but it would be bliss.

There’s just one thing I don’t love about this sweet smelling soap: It doesn’t really get my laundry clean!!! Bummer!!

I have struggled for years with stinky clothes. I have 3 boys and a husband who is “a sweater”. Not the comfy, lounge around the house “sweater”, but, “A SWEATER”. He is soaked before he leaves the house in the morning for work. Needless to say, getting smells out of his clothing it tough.

And my boys, my sweet, precious boys, are total and complete filthy little rug rats. They use their shirts as a napkin, their pants as a mop, and their socks as a broom. Oh, and did I mention that they love to throw their clothes in the laundry hamper upstairs and never bring it down?

So, we have some seriously dirty clothes going on in our house.

I’ve washed for years with traditional, brand name laundry soaps like Tide, Cheer, and Gain. I always noticed that the clothes smelled like the scent of the soap, but still weren’t very clean and often smelled bad if they had been in a drawer or hung up for several days or weeks. My towels also had a constant smell of mildew, even after multiple washes.

We even purchased a front-loading washer and dryer, and still my laundry was never fresh.

I stumbled upon an all natural laundry soap while perusing Amazon.com. I found it after searching for something that would take stains and smells out of clothing, carpet and upholstery.

Charlie’s Soap Powder popped up on my “Customers Who Viewed This Item Also Viewed” list. I was intrigued. It looked like some sort of home made product. But, the reviews were stellar!! People raved about this soap. I was skeptical after reading the ingredients: all natural washing soda, sodium silicate, and coconut oil based detergents. That’s it. There’s no way this could clean MY laundry.

I read the reviews. According to the reviewers, it really worked. It even worked on cloth diapers. It got the smells and stains out (and that’s no small feat, P-U!). Well, if it’s good enough for a baby’s bottom, it’s good enough for me.

I bought it!!!

I used it!!!

I loved it!!!

No, really, I LOVE it. My laundry has a different feel to it. Clothes are soft but not so soft that it feels like a residue is coming off of them. I often don’t even have to pre-treat stains.

There’s really no smell to the clothes…no sweet smell and no stinky smell. It’s weird, they just smell “clean”. My towels no longer smell of mildew, even if they’ve sat in the laundry bin for days. They are actually absorbent again. I mean, my towels dry me off!!! What?!?! I didn’t think towels could do that anymore without rubbing off the top layer of my skin.

Now, I will admit that every now and again, I’ll throw in a dryer sheet for a little whiff of fragrance. But, even with that, my clothes still look and feel completely different than they did when I used brand name detergents.

Oh, and did I mention it’s all natural, biodegradable, hypo-allergenic, certified non-toxic, safe for HE washers and made in the U.S? Yep, all that and clean clothes. A match made in laundry heaven!
