02 Mobile Broadband (Pay as You Go)

Thinking of buying an 02 pay as you go USB modem? Well here are some things you may want to know.
Recently I bought an 02 pay as you go USB modem and have had nothing but hastle since. I paid £30 for the dongle and topped it up with £15 which was supposed to be for a month. The thing is after I set it all up which was a mission in it’s self, it took me about 2 hour’s, I could hardly get a signal and when I did it would cut me off every 15 minute’s and I had to reconnect to the internet and start over every time.
After a week’s worth of useage it cut me off completely, I assume I used all of my data access (3mb) but when I bought it the lady assured me that no-one use’s 3mb’s in a month. So that made me angry. I topped it up to get more data access even though it was still saying I had 22 days left on my account. I paid £2 for a day’s access which is an extra half 1mb. I used my internet for approximatly 1 hour and it cut me off again for the whole day. I’d given up on it and decided to take it back and get a refund but I thought I’d try it one more time before I box it up and strangely enough it started to work again outside of the 24 hours I’d paid for which leave’s me confused over why hasent it been working all these other time’s when I had 22 day’s remaining.
I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s all just a big rip off they cut you off so you have to keep topping up your account believing you’ve used all your data access when you actually havent. I estimated that to use the internet for 2 hours a day with 02 I’m looking at paying £60 a month in top up’s which is double even triple what you’d pay on contract.
Anyway I thought I’d write this article to make people aware about it. It may seem like a better option being pay as you go but you actually end up worse off.
