Negatives of Living in an Apartment

While living in an apartment has a lot of positives, it has many negatives also. Some of the negatives I’ll mention are of no concern to many people. However, what one finds a positive can be a negative to the other.

For example, the lack of work around house is a big negative to somebody. Not everybody is lazy or without time. These people need to have something that will help them spend their time or at least keep them occupied. Somebody can even take it as an exercise. There are usually no gardens around blocks of apartments. This is a real nightmare for passionate gardeners. Of course, those with gardening as their hobby aren’t the only ones suffering in the apartment. Many people just want to grow some of their food or relax in a nice garden.

Others want to have some peace and quiet. Apartment rarely offers that as there are a usually a lot of neighbors. Some of them have dogs or noisy hobbies. There is usually a couple which is having a lot of loud arguments somewhere nearby. Also young neighbors who love loud music are quite common. I’m sure I don’t have to remind you all noises that living in apartment in bigger town or city usually brings. Sounds of the street under the windows are something that most people hate. Therefore, it is a big negative of apartment living.

Living in apartment is also very dangerous. You may think I’ve gone crazy. However, I’m pretty sure I haven’t. You can never know when some of your neighbor forgets to close his/her gas vent. Whole block of apartments can be damaged then. What’s even worse it can be totally destroyed with you in it. All you need is one drunken neighbor. The danger of fire is also great. Any of your neighbors can set fire. Although, it was unintentionally, it can kill you or destroy your property. Something like this almost impossible in family house. Yes, your house can catch fire. However, the chance is much lover as the thread careless neighbors pose, is almost totally eliminated.

Neighbors can pose as a great negative of apartment living. They can prevent you from obtaining a dog, repairing interior of your apartment or even listening to your favorite music. A bunch of senile neighbors can also ruin your day, especially when they always want something from you. However, younger neighbors with powerful new stereo can inflict even more damage on your psychical health. As you can see, neighbors can be a great disadvantage of apartment living.

The apartment is usually much smaller than family house. It usually does no harm if you are single. However, it can be a great disadvantage for families. I can say from my opinion, that there is never enough free space. You have to put some things away or live in full apartment. That can be very annoying. It is also harder to find certain things, especially those which you haven’t used for some time.

Quality of air is another big disadvantage of apartments. Apartments are usually located in towns or cities. That means there is more polluted air. A lot of people want to breathe fresh unpolluted air. Fresh air is also healthier. So living in apartment is also less healthy than for example, living in family house.
